Holiday on the Ranch

We spent Memorial Day weekend camping on the ranch. It was AMAZING and rainy and humid. My guy and I spend a day cleaning the camp site and getting the fire ring set. It is situated in the center of the left camping area so we can use it without fear of causing a wildfire.

I'm still gathering rocks from the property to build the fire pit surround. It is coming along and we used it a lot over the weekend.

I rained every day. Fortunately, it only rained a little bit each day and we were able to hit the trails before and after the rain. This was Saturday afternoon. It poured for about 1/2 hour and within 45 minutes all of the water had soaked into the ground. It was beautiful to watch, yes, I love the rain!

So we did a thing and bought a Can-Am Defender side-by-side. Ours is the little guy on the left that looks like a truck. We needed something for the Ranch and also something we could take out on the trails. This fit the bill. While we can't climb rocks like our friends can, we can go everywhere else and are loving it!  This picture is from one of the many rides we took over the weekend, yes this is close to the ranch.

That bubble around my chair is a mosquito net for a bed. We took a trip to Costa Rica and I bought it thinking it would be funny... couldn't get back in its bag so it didn't go on the trip. Now I use it for reading :) That container in the back is gong to be the cottage I talked about before. Right now it is storage and an amazing wind block!

There were 2 other couples with us and we still had so much room. It was such a great time.

This is the view from one of our rides. There are hundreds of mile of trails near the ranch.

This is from Tunnels Camp in the Seven Troughs mountains. It is a former mining town that is about 10 minutes across the valley from the ranch.

This is the view from the edge of our campsite on the ranch.

We are having so much fun creating our home away from home in the desert. Soon we will be offering the ranch as a camp site through HipCamp. We are not quite ready, but will be before the end of summer. Until we put in the well (hopefully in August) it will be dry camping, but eventually there will be water and then the the solar powered cottage. So many exciting things happening!

Stay tuned :)
