Work has Begun

 

Post holes

Recently we started work on the first ranch structure, tentatively named the Laughing Ass Saloon. Right now it is just a few holes in the ground but hopefully by the end of the winter we will have a rough, old west style building on the ranch. Since we have no water or electricity nearby, John will be designing a solar system to power the saloon. Fortunately he is brilliant. 

The "sod" you see in the picture is artificial turf from 2 separate playing fields. We have three strips measuring roughly 7' by 30' each. The two outer strips are from the former Oakland Raiders stadium and the center strip is from a soccer field. Have I told you how much I love Craig's List! You never know what you will find. 

Until we put in the well, we will not be planting anything. Of course, once we put in a well we will not be planting grass, just a few trees. We are leaving the bulk of the property as is.
