How has it been so long?
June Sunset
I can't believe the last time I wrote about the ranch was last July! We spend a lot of time on the ranch but have just been enjoying our time in the desert.
So far, the container is being used for storage. The well is on hold as it will cost roughly $100,000 but the septic should be in by the end of this year as should a cistern. We will eventually get the well, we just need to save a bit more.
Last week we explored a few more trails and ended up at Rye Patch Reservoir. Fairly easy drive. The trail going there was much longer than the one we found to get us home. Overall a 112 mile ride that was amazing.
Exploring the Desert
Road trip to Rye Patch
Rye Patch
The reservoir is green right now. Lots of algae. We will be heading over to the Saloon in Rye Patch for the July 4th weekend, just for fun. We also found a few more old mine sites to explore. I have a new App on my phone that helps us navigate the area. It is called OnX and is amazing(no link, not affiliated, just a great app in my experience). It only takes getting lost in the desert once before you realize how important a good navigation system that will track you when you DO NOT have cell service is. Rye Patch
Some of the Neighbors
We met one of the actual human neighbors in our area. I believe there are 3 or 4 people actually living out in our ranch area. There is also a wild horse rescue center. We met the owner. Amazing, dedicated family. The work they do is so important. I look forward to getting to know them more. I'll post about their facility later.
